In 1942, a disastrous parsonage fire destroyed almost all the Friedenberg church records. The Friedenberg Lutheran Historical Society Book Committee undertook the difficult task of reconstructing the church history from family and public records. It was only through diligent genealogical research and the cooperation of many descendants of these pioneers that the membership has become known.
Friedenberg Remembrances
After many hours of research, typing, and proofreading, the Friedenberg Remembrances: A Story of Peace, Faith and Life was published in 1998. It includes histories of the Friedenberg church and early members as well as newspaper articles from the Friedenberg area and biographies of the identified membership and cemetery lists.

KRAUSS, Adam. Born 11 January 1865 in Zedersitz, Bavaria. Emigrated from Bremerhaven 12 May 1886 on the Leipzig, arrived in New York 28 May 1886. Had Friedenberg Membership card 2889. Married Elizabeth POPP 20 June 1893 by Rev. H. Guemmer. Was a voting member in 1937. Released to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Perryville, Missouri in January 1938. Died 1946. Buried in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Friedenberg, Missouri.
KRAUSS, Elizabeth. (née KLEMP) Born 1856. Daughter of Johann and Caroline Soeliner KLEMP. Married first husband, Johann George POPP, who died 26 August 1884. Married second husband, KRAUSS, 20 June 1893. Died 1938. Buried in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Friedenberg, Missouri.
KRAUSS, Eugene. Born 23 February 1897. Son of Adam and Elizabeth Popp KRAUSS. Confirmed 1910. Married Sophia Magdalena BERGMAN, daughter of Frederick H. and Elise Ochs ERGMAN, 18 May 1919. Was a voting member in 1937. Accused of drowning his wife on 20 September 1941. Died 11 April 1968. Buried in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Friedenberg, Missouri.
KRAUSS, Frances. (née DAMBACH) Married Harvey William Otto KRAUSS. Received by transfer on 3 January 1948.
KRAUSS, George. Married Wilhelmina WIRTH, daughter of Henry WIRTH. Was in the record book of 1831. Was a founding member and signed the constitution when Zion Lutheran Church, Longtown, Missouri was organized 19 July 1897. Had two daughters, Johanna born ca 1864 and Catherine born ca l867. KRAUSS, Harvey William Otto. Born 1 December 1922. Son of Eugene and Sophia Magdalena Bergman KRAUSS. Confirmed in 1936. Had Friedenberg Membership card 2888. Married Frances DAMBACH. Was a member of the school board in 1955, from 1958 to 1965 and in 1968. Was a trustee in 1970 and 1973. Released to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Perryville, Missouri on 15 January 1978.
KRAUSS, Howard Melvin. Born 16 September 1943. Son of Howard and Loretta Morrison KRAUSS. Baptized 26 September 1943. Married Charlotte VERSEMAN. Transferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Perryville, Missouri.
