162 Civil Engineering Case Studies UBC Farm through a Sustainable Lens (CC BY). This page will use the University of British Columbia Farm as a case study to demonstrate sustainable design approaches, measures, and practices. The building industry currently contributes about 40% of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere globally. The ecosystem approach to sustainable design will be explored, using the Farm as the ecosystem in question. Journals Advances in Civil Engineering Chief Editor: Cumaraswamy Vipulanandan (open access). “Advances in Civil Engineering publishes papers in all areas of civil engineering.” — website Advances in Materials Science and Engineering edited by Amit Bandyopadhyay (Open Access). Advances in Materials Science and Engineering publishes research in all areas of materials science and engineering, including the synthesis and properties of materials, and their applications in engineering applications. International Journal of Advanced Structural Engineering by various (Open Access). “The International Journal of Advanced Structural Engineering (IJASE) is a peer-reviewed open access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen. The aims of the Journal are to provide a unique forum for the publication and rapid dissemination of original research on structural engineering. The articles (contributed research articles and state-of-the-art reviews) are expected to make a significant contribution to the research and development activities of the academic and professional engineering community with the highest quality.” — website International Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials Editor-in-Chief: Jae-Yeol Cho, Seoul National University, Korea (open access). “The International Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials (IJCSM) is a fully open access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen, and provides a forum targeted for engineers and scientists around the globe to present and discuss various topics related to concrete, concrete structures and other allied materials incorporating cement, cementitious binder and polymer or fiber in conjunction with concrete.” — website Textbooks Introduction to Geomatics by Scott Bell (CC-BY-SA). “This OPEN textbook was developed as a supplement to Geography 222.3 (GEOG 222), Introduction to Geomatics at the University of Saskatchewan. GEOG 222 is a required course for all Geography majors (B.A., B.Sc., B.A.Sc., and Planning), as well as the gateway geomatics course for a Specialization and Certificate in Geomatics. The content of this reader is a mix of original content (95% to 100% of the text and most of the images) created by Professor Scott Bell while other material comes from attributed sources (attribution is included at the beginning of a chapter or section, or for the note taking guide, on each slide or at the culmination of a series of slides).” — website Building Science Fundamentals by Marianne Touchie and Kim Pressnail (CC BY-NC-SA). “This on-line course package consists
