1 Belief Statement
To me, nursing is about providing excellent care to patients and connecting with them on a deeper level. No matter the person’s age, race, or culture, everyone should be provided the same level of care. Connecting with patients on a deeper level will allow for a more meaningful relationship between myself as the nurse and my patient. This will further establish honesty and respect between me and the patient showing them that I am here for them for whatever they need. I believe that nurses should be able to put their life issues aside to be able to focus all their attention on their patients. A good nurse will care for a patient but a great nurse will be overly caring for the patient and treat them with respect and empathy. As a student nurse, I believe it is important to incorporate my values and beliefs of determination, honesty, empathy, and respect into my nursing care practices. Incorporating these values and beliefs will better my patients physically, mentally, and spiritually, as well as, help improve myself when dealing with struggles in the workforce. These values and beliefs will further allow me to better care for my patients and make unique care plans for each individual.
