School of Medicine 52 Research Reflection by Kara Andersen Kara Andersen Faculty Mentor: K.C. Brennan (Neurology, University of Utah) My undergraduate research experience was incredible. My mentor took a chance on the undergraduate and fostered in me an insatiable desire to understand the inner-workings of the brain. I was encouraged to always think more ambitiously and outside of the box to accomplish my goals and more. I was provided with opportunities to learn about new topics and gain a deeper understanding of existing concepts. I was required to analyze and evaluate information, identify patterns and relationships, and draw conclusions based on evidence. Most importantly, this experience instilled confidence in me during this challenging but rewarding time. I am excited to use all that I have learned on my future continuation with education in medical school.
