56 Medical Imaging Technology Course Descriptions
AHLT-R 413 Intro to MIT Leadership | 3CR | R413 will lead students on a transformational journey from a staff technologist to a medical imaging leader by investigating the characteristics of leadership methods, inspiring a shared vision, and evaluating strategies needed to lead and manage a medical imaging department.
AHLT-R 416 Trends and Issues in MIT | 3CR | R416 is designed to have learners use critical reasoning to discuss trends and issues in medical imaging technology. Students will evaluate past issues involving radiation and reflect on past and current events.
RADI-R 402 Medical Imaging Informatics | 3CR | R402 will focus on project management in an Informatics setting. Students will become conversant in the tools and techiques of project management, such as project selection methods, work breakdown structures, network diagrams, critical path analysis, critical chain scheduling, cost estimates, earned value management, motivation theory, and team building.
RADI-R 105 Introduction and History of Medical Imaging Sciences | 3CR | R105 offers an introduction to the field of Medical Imaging Sciences. Topics include the history and evolution of the discipline, roles and responsibilities of medical personnel, radiology-related organizations, healthcare delivery settings, fundamental imaging principles, imaging equipment, and radiation protection practices.
RADI-R 418 The Teaching Technologist | 3CR | R418 introduces the fundamental concepts of clinical instruction in healthcare settings. Topics include effective instructor-student communication, evaluation and assessment strategies, and managing student learning while providing patient care. Students will engage with these principles through an online format utilizing a variety of assessment methods. Enrollment is subject to the Program Director’s discretion, based on the student’s academic and clinical progress.
RADI-R 451 MIT Theory I | 3CR | R451 covers the physical principles of advanced imaging modalities, including cardiac interventional (CI), computed tomography (CT), diagnostic medical sonography (DMS), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography (M), and vascular interventional (VI), with an emphasis on the evaluation of normal studies. Students will engage in presentations and journal reports to enhance their understanding. Enrollment is subject to the Program Director’s discretion, based on the student’s academic and clinical progress.
RADI-R 453 MIT Theory II | 3CR | R453 explores the physical principles, anatomy, pathology, and procedures associated with advanced imaging modalities. Students will engage in lectures, interactive modules, hands-on labs, and written materials to develop a comprehensive understanding of cardiac interventional (CI), computed tomography (CT), diagnostic medical sonography (DMS), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography (M), and vascular interventional (VI). Enrollment is subject to the Program Dire
