These “unsung heroes” play vital ecological roles, from pollinating plants to keeping food webs in check. Their loss disrupts entire ecosystems, and their unique adaptations hold potential scientific breakthroughs. Protecting these critically endangered species requires shifting focus beyond charisma, recognizing the interconnectedness of all life on Earth. This further thought will highlight a few species. These are only a drop in the bucket, however, among the numerous species facing extinction.
