Session 1, Slides 6-10 Session 1 Focus & Outcomes (slide 06) Time: 5 minutes Measurable objective: This slide highlights the Individual Focus of Session 1 and ensures that the participants have a clear understanding of the intended outcomes. It also highlights the specific intended outcomes for the session. Facilitator tips: No additional tips Activity #3: Chris Bashinelli Video & Discussion (slide 07) Time: 15 minutes Measurable objective: This activity will lead workshop participants to consider how their environment and upbringing was or was not similar to that of Chris Bashinelli (the stoop). The participants will reflect on whether their environment was homogeneous (generally uniform in make up) or heterogeneous (varied in make-up) and how that may have influenced their views, values, beliefs and behaviours towards others. Materials needed – Online Specific: - Remote meeting software with share screen, chat and breakout room capability (Zoom, Teams, etc.) - Day 1 Session Slides Video: Our differences can be our greatest strength – Chris Bashinelli (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbgH_vofdtg&feature=youtu.be) Description: This activity invites the participants to reflect on Bashinelli’s metaphor that our differences can be our greatest strength. Participants are asked to reflect on Chris Bashinelli’s message of growing up on the stoop by considering the following questions and then sharing their thoughts with the group. - What in his message meant the most to you and why? - How can our early experiences influence our views? Facilitator tips: As this is the first personal disclosure for the workshop participants, it will assist in creating comfort for them if the facilitator(s) share their reflections and personal experiences. Trans, Inter and Multicultural Explanation (slide 08) Time: 4 minutes Measurable objective: Participants understand the distinction between Transcultural, Intercultural and Multicultural. F2F Facilitation – Materials needed: - Projector and screen or slide handouts. - Day 1 Session Slides - Session 1 Agenda - URL Links for videos Online Facilitation – Materials needed: - Remote meeting software with share screen, chat and breakout room capability (Zoom, Teams, etc.) - Day 1 Session Slides Description: Outlines the unique aspects of Transcultural, Intercultural and Multicultural. The facilitator will review the individual definitions and the differences.
