On September 7th, 1907 thousands of white citizens rioted through Vancouver’s Chinatown, destroying homes and businesses. Windows were smashed, stores looted, and Chinese Canadians were beaten. After venting their fury on Chinatown, the crowd headed to Powell Street to attack Japanese citizens.
