Acronyms ‘R’ Us
As with most disciplines and areas of specialization, Academic Quality has its own short forms for communicating. Although we use many of the same acronyms, or short forms, as other post secondary educators, we add a few that may be new to educators from other disciplines.
The flashcards allow you to refresh on common, post secondary acronyms as they mix in with Academic Quality-specific ones. Feel free to jump levels of difficulty and switch game mode to Match or try Gravity if you are already and acronym expert!

They supervise hiring, orient new faculty members, support faculty members, coordinate activities to enhance the professional development of the faculty, and handle faculty personnel actions.
The College Educator Development Program (CEDP) is a collaborative undertaking of the six Western Region Colleges. Its mission is to foster teaching excellence through the shared exploration of evidence-based teaching and engagement in ongoing reflective teaching practice.
The COMMS system delivers not only course outlines, but sound course outline management couple with ease of use, and integrated curriculum mapping functionality.
The CQAAP is an institutional level process that involves the regular and cyclical review of each college’s quality assurance mechanisms. The standards provide the framework for Ontario’s colleges in assessing the extent to which their quality assurance mechanisms meet the established standards. Its purpose is developmental and its intent is to ensure continual improvement.
CTL provides services in the areas of eLearning, curriculum development, course design, and teaching and learning professional development, engaging the College community in initiatives that enhance the quality of the learning experience.
The Credential Validation Service (CVS) provides timely validation of programs of instruction to the colleges, which supports every college’s ability to respond swiftly to community and employer requirements.
The mandate of the CVS, given by government includes:
• providing reasonable assurance that all programs of instructionconform to the established Credentials Framework and are consistent with accepted college program titling principles; and,
• maintaining the integrity of the credentials and protecting the interests of students and employers who require a reasonable guarantee
