R. Halverson (134/413) -- Hymns and Spiritual Songs

R. Halverson THIS day’s a day of battle; We walk on alien ground With many souls in danger Where deadly foes abound. There’s many a weary soldier And many a weeping eye; O God, we pray, deliver! Hearken and hear our cry. 2 For brethren now in peril, For visions that are dim, For serving hearts sore stricken, O Lord, we pray for them. We seek their hands to strengthen, We come to bring them nigh; O God, we pray, deliver! Hearken and hear our cry. 3 Now lift your voice before Him, For prayer shall win the day; The enemy shall be routed; The Lord’s our strength and stay. Today’s a day of battle, And yet the victory’s nigh; O God, we pray, deliver! Hearken and hear our cry. 4 Prayer is our life-line, brother; The battle waxeth sore, And yet our God is near us; He’ll help us more and more. For us prayer wins the battle, Lift up thy prayer on high; O God, we pray, deliver! Hearken and hear our cry.
