Diversity Advocacy Campaigns

Diversity Advocacy Campaigns Tell students that many members of groups that have been historically under-represented in media have used digital media, such as social networks, to advocate for change and to organize people who care about the same issue. If you wish, you may show students the video Digital Literacy 101: Interactions Through Digital Media Can Have a Real Impact to help communicate to students the ways in which young people can use digital media to make a difference. Have students navigate to the student chapter Diversity Advocacy Campaigns. Have them go through the first interactive activity (you may choose to do this with the class instead) and then answer the questions in the second activity.
