Loosen all of the straps on your splint.. Flex your foot into an upright position.. Slide the splint onto your shin and the front half of your foot.

Wrap the highest strap around the front of your lower shin.
Tighten the strap over your ankle area.
Arrange the supporting strap in place over your toes.
Keep the splint in place all night.
Wear a dorsal night splint based on a doctor's recommendation.
Remove the splint once you get out of bed.
Clean off the splint with a damp cloth as needed.
Limit activities that trigger your foot problems.
Do a 5- to 10-minute ice massage nightly to reduce pain and swelling.
Take NSAIDs for pain if your doctor says it's okay.
Perform plantar fascia stretches in the morning and after sitting.
Ask your doctor about using orthotics.
